Mage and the Endless Unknown is a new young adult graphic novel by cartoonist SJ Miller and published by Iron Circus Comics. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this mostly textless work speaks volumes. Unhindered by dialog, Miller is able to tell a compelling story with their art alone. All in black and white, Miller’s tale is that of death and destruction, as well as hope, triumph, and friendship. As naive and innocent as Miller’s Mage appears, the horrors they face are equally corrupt. Miller tactfully presents nightmares without getting overly grim or bloody. Miller’s book is a masterful work of artistic genius that tells a silent tale of terror and dread.
