25 Days ‘Til Christmas
It’s been four years since her soldier husband died in the war, and Kate Potter feels like she’s stuck in a rut. All the temporary measures to keep life going have become far more permanent than she intended, and it’s looking like life might be forcing some changes on her that she’s not quite ready for. In an attempt to get life back on track for herself and her young son, Kate comes up with a plan: a Christmas advent calendar full of fun activities for them to do together, to bring back some of the magic of the season. Meanwhile, Daniel is struggling with his first Christmas since the loss of his beloved sister, and he’s not really sure how to cope. When he meets Kate at her department store Christmas tree sales job, he recognizes the sadness he sees in her eyes. Perhaps the two of them, together, can create a holiday miracle.
Poppy Alexander’s 25 Days ‘Til Christmas seems like it’ll be a light, fluffy holiday read, but anyone who picks it up will be surprised at how such a simple story manages to pack so much depth and feeling. Told in alternating viewpoints, readers will enjoy seeing things from both Kate’s and Daniel’s eyes and watching as a combination of events and circumstances ultimately results in a positive change for all. This is a sweet romance story.
