A Frog’s Life

We rated this book:

Frogs are fun. Frogs are fast. Frogs are fascinating. Especially if you are a kid. And this marvelous picture book will give kids lots of fun and interesting information about these amphibians. There are more than 4,000 different kinds of frogs, and they live on every continent except Antarctica. They come in all sizes — the smallest is about the size of a housefly, while the largest, the Goliath toad, is 2 1/2 feet long when he stretches his legs out. Some frogs are dangerous and carry strong poisons. The Golden Poison Frog is only as big as a paperclip but carries strong enough toxin to kill ten people. And, of course, the kids will love the strangest facts such as how frogs shed their skin to keep it healthy and then eat it. Yuck! But it is full of water and nutrients.

Author Irene Kelly has written a book that is jam-packed with the kind of information that will keep youngsters turning pages. The beautiful illustrations by Margherita Borin are chock full of details that will have readers studying them for those specifics. This book is a real winner and will have kids learning without them knowing.
