Amazing World: Bugs: Get To Know 20 Crazy Bugs

We rated this book:

Bugs are everywhere. Eighty percent of all creatures on earth are bugs. There are over ten quadrillion species of bugs on our planet. And kids love learning about bugs. This book defines what bugs are and how varied they are on an opening spread with terrific pictures of creepy crawlies. This is followed by twenty spreads, each of which focuses on a different interesting bug. These include Fireflies, Goliath Beetles, Railroad Worms, Giant Devil’s Flower Mantis, Click Beetles, Glowing Cockroaches, Lanternflies, and more. Each spread has several text blocks about the amazing bugs as well as wonderful close-up photographs, maps, and interesting statistics about each creature, its habitat, its statistics, and more. There is even a packet of thirteen glow-in-the-dark plastic, shaped stickers.

The writing is lively and the facts are most interesting. Kids will love the small chunks of text and the other elements scattered around the spreads making this look very much like a kid’s scrapbook. The wonderful graphics will keep eyes on the pages and will entertain younger kids, while the depth of information will be enough to engage kids up to age ten or so. This is a winner.
