America’s Game: The NFL at 100
2019 marks the one-hundredth anniversary of the National Football League. Former football star Jerry Rice has collaborated with sportswriter Randy O. Williams to retell the history of the game that epitomizes the American spirit. Told in chronological order, the stories and personal interviews in this book are lessons learned and miracles that have happened both on and off the field. From struggles to Super Bowl wins, players of the past and present have told their stories to show the public what happens or happened behind the scenes. Superstars like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Bob Hayes, and Vince Lombardi all have stories in this beautiful compilation.
One of the things I liked most about this book is how it is organized. Each part is organized into “quarters” just like a football game. From there, stories and interviews from those eras are told as well as descriptions of how the game itself changed. The evolution of football from 1920 to 2019 has changed immensely. This book would make the perfect gift for any fan of the game.
