Christmas in Eternity Springs: An Eternity Springs Novel

Christmas in Eternity Springs is just ridiculous.

Our hero, Jax Lancaster, has a son, Nicholas, who is afraid of Christmas. Every time Nicholas hears Christmas carols, bells ringing, or sees a Christmas tree, he has a panic attack. The reason is revealed later in the story, but Jax is charged with helping Nicholas face his fears at the height of the holiday season.

Into Jax’s life waltzes Claire Branham, a woman who owns a store called “Forever Christmas” that sells nothing but Christmas-themed tchotchkes, books, and ornaments year-round. Claire is also determined to help Nicholas. Nothing like a helpless child to be the adhesive in two adults’ romantic relationship.

This romance novel was nonsensical to the point of being laughable. I had a hard time believing that Jax, a hypermasculine, salt-of-the-earth, pulls-himself-up-by-his-bootstraps Navy man would take Claire’s advice to keep a journal (one decorated with a star that says “believe” on the cover) and think positive thoughts rather than get his son the practical, professional medical help he needs. Somehow, Claire believed in the “woo-woo” healing powers of Eternity Springs, and had everyone in her blast radius believing in it, too.

This story needed a lot more depth and a good, practical head on its shoulders.
