Christmas in Vermont
If you are a fan of the movies on the Hallmark Channel and love sweet love stories, you will be a fan of this book. It is much in the vein of the author’s other thirteen books, set in various locales.
The book begins with Emma selling her engagement ring to a pawn shop only to discover that her first love has sold his watch, gifted and engraved by her, at that very same pawn shop. This coincidence leads to further coincidences and perhaps, a love that is more lasting.
The plot does require the reader to believe that one can stare for “several hours” at cashmere windows in Barney’s. She proves her heroine’s independence by having her break up with a series of perfectly good men for no apparent reason. In reality, my single girl friends in New York City are eager to meet one such available gentleman. The heroine also gives up a Hawaiian vacation with her estranged and seems to love snowy New York City to a warmer climate.
