Death in the Family
Thirteen months ago, Senior Investigator Shana Merchant was abducted by a serial killer and survived, but the emotional scars run deep. Now, she and her partner, Tim, get called to a house on an island for a person who is missing under suspicious circumstances. The man went missing from his bed with his girlfriend asleep next to him, leaving behind way too much blood for him to have survived. There are only eight other people in the house, all of them suspects. With a terrible storm preventing them from leaving, Shana and Tim will have to interview everyone and discover if there has been a Death in the Family.
Overall, I want to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved Shana’s character. My only complaint was that what happened in Shana’s past was much more interesting than what was happening in the present. I kept finding myself longing for more information into what happened with Bram than really caring about the mystery of the missing man. I sincerely hope that Ms. Wegert continues writing and that the next Shana Merchant novel delves more into her past. The main mystery was interesting though, and a classic whodunnit with old money on a private island. I would definitely recommend this, and I look forward to more of Shana.
