Dishonored 2: The Peeress and the Price
The Peeress and the Price is a comic based on the video game Dishonored. So, to anyone unfamiliar with or uninterested in the world of Dishonored, the comic might seem fairly uninteresting. But for a fan of the game, impatiently awaiting a sequel and missing the stylish, quasi-Victorian, quasi-steam punk world of Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin, of tallboys and clockwork mansions, this comic is a welcome offering to stave off the hunger pangs.
In this entry, Emily rules as Empress of Dunwall, and her father, Corvo, remains protector of the throne. They find themselves facing down civil uprisings led by a mysterious woman seemingly bent on destroying Dunwall from the bottom up. The story is compelling enough without being overly complicated–and of course is simply a side adventure within the larger story rather than an alteration to any of the lore. The kinetic illustrations are as true-spirited a translation of the game into comic medium as you could want, and the swashbuckling action of the story gives just enough of a jolt of Dishonored joy to see the reader/fan through their long wait.
