The summary of the book makes it sound like this is a fluffy chic-flit romp through the boring life of housewife, Camilla. However, the book starts with Camilla pining for her old school “friends.” Although neither of her old roommates seem to have kept in touch with her, they’ve kept in touch with each other and are living career-driven lives but failing at love. Camilla is a married mother of two whose husband doesn’t seem to care for her anymore. She manages to invite her old girlfriends over for a dinner party which goes horribly awry, changing her life forever.
The women in this book are more like mean girls than a group of fun friends from school. Camilla’s “friends” spend a lot of time sleeping around and using people for their own interests. At first, Camilla seems to be a genuinely decent person who’s been wronged by her husband. But once she befriends an international Rockstar, she starts a descent into troubling behavior that seems to come out of nowhere.
