Foundryside: A Novel
Sancia Grado is a thief, and a damn good one at that. Her latest target is a heavily guarded warehouse on Tevanne’s docks, nothing that her abilities can’t handle. But, little known to Sancia, she is sent to steal an artifact that could revolutionize the magical technology known as scriving. The Merchant Houses, the ones that control this magic, have already used it to transform Tevanne into a capitalistic machine. Someone in one of the Merchant houses wants Sancia dead—and the artifact for themselves. In the city of Tevanne, there’s nobody with the power to stop them.
Foundryside is a wonderful action-packed book filled with fantabulous world building, which is done with impressive skill. The aspect of magic was woven well into the book, making it an everyday occurrence of the world, as well as the plot itself. I was easily able to imagine the streets of Tevanne, as well as being able to explore the complex political scene of the world. I profusely enjoyed the complex plot and the diverse range of characters that move the plot along. Foundryside is filled with unexpected twists and turns, characters with complex pasts and with a major threat that could destroy everything that the characters genuinely cares for.
