From A to Z with Energy!: 26 Ways to Move and Play

We rated this book:

Let’s get moving! Young readers will absolutely LOVE this clever picture book from author Connie Bergstein Dow and illustrator Gareth Llewhellin. From A to Z with Energy is, as might be surmised, an alphabet book. Every letter of the alphabet is represented here in some way that involves being active or exercising, or the way that being active makes us feel. P is for playgrounds, D is for dancing, T is for tag, and so on. The whole book rhymes, and the sentences are structured with a pleasing cadence that makes the story wonderful to read aloud; adults will enjoy reading it, while youngsters will enjoy hearing it. Llewhellin’s illustrations are colorful and fun, featuring a level of diversity that is still not commonly found in picture books. Children in the pictures are of a wide variety of skin tones, boys and girls, and there is even a child in a wheelchair enjoying being outside and active. This is a great ABC book that children will want to hear again and again, and parents can hope it’ll help inspire everyone to get active!
