Junk Beautiful: She Sheds: Hundreds of Inspired Ideas for Your Backyard Retreat
Contained in the book of Junk Beautiful: She Sheds by Sue Whitney are sheds created by Ms. Whitney herself, alongside some of her women friends from across the country, places such as Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Texas, and California. These sheds are created from standing garages, cow/horse trailers, campers, and even an outhouse! These creations of “she sheds” hold a lot of personality and are rich in family heirlooms and history. The repurposing of vintage materials and family heirlooms (i.e. family crib turned into a table or old trundle bed from grandma’s made slightly modern and more useful) is fascinating to see and learn about. The makers made sure to create a space of their own, no matter how many women will be sharing and utilizing the space. Being an outdoor space, it would seem that floral arrangements and outdoor seating is a must to be able to fully enjoy the ambience of the location.
Not being quite the DIY-er that I wish I was, but being passionate about repurposing, this book was a homerun as far as creativity and visual ideas. I would recommend it to anyone interested at all!
