Laetitia Rodd and the Case of the Wandering Scholar (A Laetitia Rodd Mystery)
Laetitia Rodd has been called back into action in The Case of the Wandering Scholar. A wealthy man lies on death’s doorstep and longs to reconcile with his brother. He hires Mrs. Rodd to find him as he hasn’t been seen for ten years. She travels to Oxford where he was last seen, and it isn’t long before the case becomes more complicated than it seemed at first. Murders are being committed as well as other sins, and Mrs. Rodd will have to be slightly more open-minded in order to keep innocent people from being hanged for a crime they did not commit. She will also need to realize that hardly anyone is as innocent as they may try to be.
This series is fantastic. Every character leaps off the page, and I could not put it down. Even the villains are not black-and-white evil; they have depth to them making them more like the rest of humanity. If you love strong female leads and stories that take place in Victorian London, you will love this book as much as I did. I would also highly recommend you read the first in the series, The Secrets of Wishtide, but it isn’t crucial to enjoying this story. I sincerely hope this isn’t the last of Laetitia Rodd’s cases.
