Nicole Graves is assigned to babysit plaintiff Mary Ellen Barnes for her law firm. It seems a simple enough job but when Mary Ellen changes her story and goes missing, Nicole realizes there is more to the story than meets the eye. This book was an easy read with a simple storyline. Mary Ellen is portrayed as a proper Southern Belle and the accused, the college star football player, is the stereotypical popular jock. But does that mean that he raped her? This is what the Women Against Rape group is trying to help prove when they fund Mary Ellen’s stay in a fancy hotel and hire Nicole’s firm to represent her. I enjoyed reading this story which was written from Nicole’s third person point of view with a few of the other characters’ points of views strewn throughout. Nicole does a great job of doing her own investigating and taking risks throughout the book. The one person I found to be annoying was Nicole’s boyfriend. He was really controlling and accusatory towards Nicole at times. I would have also liked for there to be a little more substance to the plot with some twists thrown in but overall it was a fun read. This would be a great beach read.
