Llewellyn’s Little Book of Herbs (Llewellyn’s Little Books)
The world of herbs is vast, varied, and endlessly fascinating. Not only are there hundreds or even thousands of species and varieties of plants, but their uses are equally numerous, and not just culinarily. Herbs can also be used for healing and health purposes, and they can be made into all sorts of interesting items. Fascinating, but also rather intimidating, especially for anyone just beginning to explore this world.
This little volume is exactly the friendly guide you need to get started, holding your hand as you learn about the most common and useful herbs; which to grow as well as how and why; how to harvest, store, and preserve them; and the varying ways to use them, including directions for salves, oils, tinctures, and much more.
Everything that is included is definitely achievable, even for the novice, relying on simple methods and ingredient lists and your own personal tastes. The sections are easy to navigate, comprising growing, harvesting, making, and sharing, and they are fairly extensive for a book this size, giving you plenty to begin with.
Although the book would be improved by a more detailed table of contents and an index (so you could easily find your desired herb), it is a fun little book that you will refer to often.
