Lucky in Love
Maddie has a plan. She is going to work hard, get good grades, and earn a scholarship to UCLA. This school will keep her close to home so she can help her parents, who fight too often since her father lost his job three years ago, and her brother, who left school to sleep all day. She’s way too smart for the lottery, but on her birthday, when no one shows up and the cashier is questioning her beliefs, she buys a ticket…and wins! She knows this will be the way to solve all her problems, until a certain boy, who works with her at the zoo, throws a monkey wrench into her plans and helps her to see herself more clearly.
West has created a story of romance for young and not-so-young readers alike, alive with the first thrills of new romance and long friendships. Seth and Maddie are both likable characters experiencing the same heartache and problems as most teens, even without the added stress of the lottery win. Anyone who enjoys Jennifer E. Smith or Sarah Dessen will enjoy this sweet tale and will be thrilled to know that West has a good many other similar titles available.
