Everybody. Loves. Minions. The silly, yellow, banana-loving helpers of supervillian Gru have long been the not-so-quiet stars of the movies, and even ultimately got an entire movie devoted to their antics. But graphic novels allow us to see the Minions as we’ve never seen them before. Minions: The Collection is an omnibus edition of the first two Minions comics, “Banana!” and “Evil Panic.” Each page encompasses a single comic, and nearly every comic involves weapons, bananas, or other food. I love seeing the Minions put in bizarre and hilarious situations. Chess boxing? Weapons testing? Banana Rorschach test? Check, check, and check, and then some! This collection is fun because you can pick it up and flip to any page for entertainment; it’s not a long story that you have to keep track of. Each page also uses very minimal words, relying almost exclusively on visual humor; even the newest readers, and even pre-readers, would enjoy this book, as no reading is really required. That attribute also makes this book fantastic for introducing your kiddos to comics as a medium; the stories are hilarious, they’re colorful, and they feature characters loved by many youngsters. This book is highly recommended for everyone!
