Perrazo y Perrito se equivocan/Big Dog and Little Dog Making a Mistake
Big Dog and Little Dog, a.k.a. Perrazo y Perrito, are always eager to chase kitties, but one day the black and white animal isn’t what they believed. Instead of chasing a pussycat, they find themselves the target of a skunk’s defensive squirt. Phew, do they stink! They hurry on home to where a party is in full swing. Perrazo y Perrito tear across the pages to be welcomed – well, not exactly – by the other party-goers, whose reaction to their arrival is evident. And here the story ends, leaving children to fill in what they think the other party-goers say about the smelly canines.
Humor is always a welcome feature in stories like this old favorite. Author and illustrator Dav Pilkey, well-known for his Captain Underpants and Ricky Ricotta series, catches hold of the youngest book-lovers here. His pictures, the epitome of simple and colorful, complement the story perfectly.
Skill-building activities, some perhaps a little too advanced, add learning time to story time. The translation into Spanish alongside the English-language version ensures the book will be a hit for parents and early-education bilingual teachers.
