Pilu of the Woods
Pilu of the Woods is about a nerdy boy who feels like his feelings are monsters. When Willow’s sister causes those monsters to escape by yelling at him about their mother who passed away after he made a mistake, they cause an adventure full of morals, magic, and friendly tree spirits. The fact that Willow is really emotional is a nice touch too because it is sure to make readers feel like they need to start standing up to bullies.
Pilu of the Woods is a touching tale full of emotion and is sure to make readers think, “Is there someone being treated this way? Is there anything I can do to make them feel better?” I liked Pilu of the Woods because of all the magic, wonder, and the fact that it starts out with color and loses it as he does bad things. I can tell that Mai K. Nguyen is a truly talented writer and illustrator. I think readers all over the world will agree, each for their own reason. For example, some might like the drawing technique, some might like the characters, and so on. I think the reason they will like Pilu of the Woods best is that it’s appropriate for everyone and the whole family will love it.
