Jay Allan’s second and final entry in the Flames of Rebellion military space-opera duology picks up some time after the events of the first book. Entitled Rebellion’s Fury, the book continues the adventures of the protagonist, Damian Ward. After the long battle for Ward’s adopted planet, called Haven, Ward is ready to lead a peaceful life. However, there is a new insurrection brewing. Ward and his compatriots are not happy with the concessions of their foe, Federal America. As a result, there is a new insurrection brewing against the corrupt and tyrannical regime that could spell dire consequences for Haven as a whole. Ward is pulled again into the fighting, and his mission is to ensure the survival of his people as well as his adopted planet.
Just like the previous novel in the series, Rebellion’s Fury, it is full of high-stakes military action. Being a military sci-fi novel, it is replete with all the high-tech weaponry that both sides are fighting with. As a result, there is lots of breathtaking action that leaves the reader at the edge of their seat. The author pulls the reader in from the very first sentence and doesn’t let go until the last drop of blood is spilled. The characters, already strongly developed in the first book, continue to be developed in Rebellion’s Fury. Damian Ward and the others are bound by a deep sense of patriotism toward their new home, and it shows in their valiant fight to liberate the planet from an oppressive regime.
With the book being a second entry in the series, it builds upon the events of the first novel. Thus, it is imperative to read Flames of Rebellion in order to understand the events in Rebellion’s Fury.
