Take Me There: Dream, Draw, and Design Your Perfect Adventure
Most people love to travel, and they also love to daydream. This is a book that can help to answer both those interests. Author Victoire Bourgois has created a little travel spa in a book. She has pages about 38 places around the world. Each section has a short write up about the place and its culture that is something like an aperitif, something to whet the appetite for the place. Photographs or drawings accompany the write up. Each is followed by some activities to extend the experience. For instance, in the section on Mexico City, there are pages to design a Day of the Dead mask and a recipe for horchata, a local non-alcoholic drink for a hot day. For Berlin, Germany, there is a list of some music related to the place as well as a writing exercise about living in a divided city and pages about some suggested outings. The book is filled with lovely photographs and drawings, all in very calm, muted colors. The fun drawing and writing exercises are short and low pressure. Some nice color pencils and a cup of tea and this book will make hours fly by.
