The Body in the Wake: A Faith Fairchild Mystery
Faith Fairchild is spending the summer at the family cottage in Maine. With her son, Ben, away and her husband, Tom, writing on the other side of the island and daughter Amy working Faith should be having a relaxing time with friends Sophie and Pix. They should have lots of time to devote to planning the wedding of Pix’s daughter Samantha. But, when Faith and Sophie discover a body in the local swimming hole, their idyllic summer is shattered. Tom is adamant that Faith should avoid investigating, especially when it becomes known the death might be drug-related. Faith can’t help but wonder what’s going on and how the dangerous drug trade made it to her peaceful island.
The Body in the Wake is a charming New England mystery full of friends and family keen to enjoy a summer on the water. The vivid scenes and characters along with twists and turns of a well-developed plot, make this a book that’s not only fun to read but hard to put down. This is the twenty-fifth book in the Faith Fairchild series, a milestone by any standard. Having read a few of them, I have to say this one is my favorite so far.
