It’s been three months since the Crisis began. People all over the country started to get the Cough and die off. Red is the only one left in her family now, and she needs to get to Grandma’s house. She knows she’ll be safe there. But Grandma’s house is a hundred miles away, in the woods. Red will have to get through those if she wants to survive, as well as past any other people she comes across, and she’ll have to avoid the military that are rounding up people for quarantine camps. “Red didn’t like to think of herself as a killer, but she wasn’t about to let herself get eaten up just because she was a woman alone in the woods.” Be you beast, man, military, or some other monster, beware The Girl in Red. She is going to Grandma’s house and you cannot stop her.

Amazing book! I would recommend this to anyone who loves twists on fairy tales or post-apocalyptic stories. I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s writing style and all the pop references which helped Red to survive, and this is honestly what I’m banking on when the apocalypse happens. I could not put this book down! Red was sarcastic, smart, and standoffish, making her completely lovable. She is definitely who I would want by my side when the Crisis begins. You really need to add this to your reading list!
