The Schoolhouse
Fifteen years ago, Isobel went to The Schoolhouse, an experimental school in the 1970s. Since then, Isobel has been trying to forget what happened. One day, she notices a pair of girls at the library where she works. She can’t put her finger on it but something isn’t right. A few days later, one of the girls is missing and Isobel knows she has to do what she can to keep what happened to her and her friend from happening to anyone else.
This story started out fairly slow and I found it to be a bit disjointed; however, the author pulled it together well in the end. The story is quick, meaning you don’t get to know the characters very well and there were quite a few of them. For that reason, I often had a hard time following along with the characters and would find myself looking back to remember who that person is and why they were important. Overall, though, the story was a realistic picture of the dark side of humanity and what humans will do to each other, especially the most vulnerable.
