Turner Classic Movies: Christmas in the Movies: 30 Classics to Celebrate the Season

We rated this book:

Is anything more synonymous with the holiday season than the warm fuzzies you get from a cozy fire and a classic Christmas movie on the TV? Whether your traditional household viewing is Home Alone or Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, or It’s a Wonderful Life, it’s virtually guaranteed you have a particular favorite to watch every year.

But what else is out there? What classics have you missed? What are some family-friendly options that haven’t already been exhausted or overplayed?

Turner Classic Movies has you covered with Christmas in the Movies, a collection of thirty films that belong on any holiday viewer’s list. Some of these are rightfully iconic, films that everyone should know, but others are wonderful hidden gems lost to earlier eras but still easily accessible.

With in-depth plot descriptions, gorgeous photography of famous and pivotal scenes, and bits of trivia about each film and its production, film buffs and holiday fans alike will find plenty to enjoy in this one. I particularly enjoyed the “Holiday Moment” at the end of each section, which highlighted the Christmassy pinnacle of each film.

You might disagree with the idea that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, but you’re still guaranteed to find both your favorites and some unexpected delights in Christmas in the Movies.
