What’s Your Creative Type?: Harness the Power of Your Artistic Personality
Meta Wagner in her book What’s Your Creative Type? differentiates five different creativity types and then gives an in-depth look into each type, including their strengths and weaknesses, and offers sidebars that provide quizzes and information. While I enjoyed the research and knowledge Wagner brought to the topic of creativity, the voice of the novel felt elementary, often listing examples and asking rhetorical questions to maintain interest. The introduction overviews the entirety of the book; however, it suggests to the reader that the book could be read in any way, shape, or form, leaving entire chapters up to the whims of the reader. While this is a good idea, in theory, it left me wanting to skim the sections that didn’t apply directly to my creative type. The research is solid, and the section about the individual’s type gives valuable insight; however, the remainder of the book becomes irrelevant to the consumer. Overall, the book might aid the reader in understanding themselves and their personal creativity type, but the readability, for me, was lacking.
