When God Made Light
In When God Made Light, the author does a fantastic job explaining the story of creation and tying that into our current lives. This book deserves five out of five stars because I love when Christianity can be added to, and even be made the main focus, of a children’s book. My four-year-old especially enjoyed reading this book after we had started a series of activities about the creation story. I believe this book is an excellent companion piece to the story of creation. The illustrator makes the pages fun to look at with so much going on across each page. The author includes descriptive words that make the mention of light in the scene seem very realistic and appealing to children with engaging and interactive activities that also allow the reader to appreciate God’s work. The children’s song, “This Little Light of Mine,” comes to mind with this story because just as light is a beacon of hope for us in the dark, Jesus is our Light in this dark world. As children of God, we have been created to spread the light that God made so that everyone can come into the light.
