Will and Krill
A delightful story embellished with entrancing illustrations. Take yourself to the sea and meet a shy, lonely little Orca whale named Will, who has been ignored by her playgroup. She yearns for a friend as loneliness overwhelms her, and finally, she finds a friend, it is a tiny creature called Krill. Krill and her associates all rush to befriend Will, who is now overjoyed to have a close companion. But there is a problem. This is a predator-prey world, and tiny krill are the food for the hungry whales. When shy, quiet Will becomes aware of the imminent danger threatening her new friend, she finds the courage to bellow through the ocean world that the whales, squids, and other feeders should not eat her friend. The story glides through entrancing blue and purple versions of the sea, and the reader almost feels as if he is swimming along with Will and Krill. The narrative is engaging, and the author wittily includes some smiling puns in the dialogue. The story through Will and Krill sets an example of friendship and courage that should help embolden little readers.
